Kentucky coach John Calipari is back from watching UK recruiting targets play for Team USA in Spain and put his 15-player roster through a two-hour workout Tuesday that coachcal.com editor Metz Camfield got to watch.
He offered a variety of insights on the Cats, including these two:
— Malik Monk can really get down the floor in a hurry and generally shot the ball well. He had a gorgeous crossover and drive through traffic to the hoop for an easy layup with his left hand. The freshman makes things happen with the ball in his hands. When he puts the ball on the deck and drives to the basket, he appears to be nearly impossible to stop without fouling him. His quickness is ridiculous.
— Needing just two points to get the win in a drill, De’Aaron Fox had a smooth drive to the basket for a layup while being held. In fact, Fox finished in traffic well throughout the afternoon. Like Monk, Fox has great speed and can be menace as he drives to the rack. He really drove it and elevated with authority a number of times.
