Certainly Mark Stoops has to have thoughts he would like to share about Georgia four-star quarterback Jarren Williams de-committing to Kentucky for a second time over the weekend.
The first time, Williams decided Kentucky was the right place for him after all. But not this time. He was on an official visit to Miami when he made his decision and will now take official visits to Auburn and Ohio State.
NCAA rules prohibit Stoops from talking about perspective recruits. However, he did talk Monday about the challenge of recruiting quarterbacks (remember last year UK had Mac Jones de-commit and then sign with Alabama).
“I think it’s unique with quarterbacks because a lot of times you develop that relationship early. You get honed in with a certain guy and the quarterbacks are always looking for that perfect fit and you as a program are looking for the perfect fit. I think that’s just in general some of the things that happen at that position,” Stoops said.
Kentucky has apparently been reaching out to other quarterbacks in the 2018 signing class because Stoops would like to sign at least one quarterback every year. He has five on scholarship at UK this year and the only senior is starter Stephen Johnson.
“Fortunately for us we took two last year, which is a good thing. Walker (Wood), unfortunately for him, had another surgery on that shoulder. He’s doing rehab. But we have some good quarterbacks here,” Stoops said Monday.
