Will Quade Green, Tai Wynyard or Jarred Vanderbilt play against Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon in Nashville?
At noon today Kentucky coach John Calipari said he had no updates on any of the three. Green and Wynyard did not play Tuesday against Texas A&M due to back injuries and Vanderbilt has not play all season because of a leg injury even though he practiced with the team this week.
“I haven’t seen any of the them today. We’re not leaving (for practice) until 12:45,” Calipari said during a teleconference with Kentucky media members.
He said the team had Wednesday off and Green did not practice Thursday.
“He had to do some treatment or something yesterday, so he did not practice yesterday,” Calipari said about his point guard.
Freshman Jemarl Baker has also not played this year because of a knee injury.
“He’s started rehab, so I don’t know what that means. I don’t have an answer for you,” Calipari said.
He did have updated weather info and explained why the team made a hasty departure from Lexington Thursday night to make sure it got to Nashville for the game.
“The weather’s just turning bad. I was out this morning and it’s gotten colder. Last night I didn’t even have a coat on, but we just made a decision to leave last night because the airline called us at 5 o’clock and said there’s some rain and ice and we may not be able to take off,” the Kentucky coach said.
“And then it was, well, we could ride a bus tomorrow. Yeah, and it would be seven hours to try to get up here. So, we just decided at 7 o’clock we’re leaving at 8:30. So we gathered up the guys and we just got in the bus and got up here around 11:30.
“We’re here and we’re going to practice on their court. They’ve been nice enough, Vanderbilt. They’re going to practice before us because they’re going to close down the school. They want everybody off their campus by 3 because it’s supposed to be really icy and snowy and hopefully it clears up by tomorrow so that we won’t have any issues with the game.”
