What does it mean to teams to beat Kentucky?
Let Auburn coach Bruce Pearl explain — and remember his team was ranked No. 10 and a 9-point favorite over Kentucky when it beat the Wildcats Wednesday.
“From our standpoint, the last 35 times Auburn has played Kentucky, 33 of those times Kentucky has won. What I talked to the team about was how many of our former players really didn’t have a good chance to beat Kentucky because we either weren’t as good or they were so good that the outcome wasn’t a doubt,” Pearl said after the win.
“The question was what the margin was going to be. ‘Let’s win this one for all those lettermen that played for Auburn.’ I guarantee that those guys, all over the country, are feeling pretty good about their team right now.”
