Words of wisdom that might apply to Calipari’s Cats

By LARRY VAUGHT

Several times per week former LSU coach Dale Brown, a man I’m proud to call a friend, will send me something to motivate me or make me thing about the way I look at things.

He did again Thursday night — but it got me to thinking this might be good advice for the UK basketball team.

See what you think:

“Keep away from the people who try to belittle you and constantly criticize every thing you do. Do not let anyone destroy your confidence. They are nothing but losers.

“Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain. God never makes any junk, so never let some negative, unhappy, and bitter person control your destiny.”

Confidence is something this Kentucky team is lacking and it certainly needs to get it back before hosting Alabama Saturday.

  1. That sounds good, and is probably good advice if it is applied to most situations in life. However, in sports, those people he calls losers buy tickets, and expect players who suit up for a basketball legendary program like Kentucky to play for the brand every time out, no excuses. Nothing disgraceful with losing if you fight for a full 40 mins, but get beat. The problem is when players let go of the rope “Calipari’s words.” Let Alabama start losing football games on a regular basis and drop out of the top 10 for lack of effort and see what happens. Let Alabama start losing football games because players won’t take coaching and see what happens.

  2. Pup is right.

  3. Wise words indeed.
