High school students will talk school safety on WKYB-FM Thursday morning

By LARRY VAUGHT

Three area high school students will join me on WKYB (107.5 FM, wkybfm.com) Thursday morning from 9-10 a.m. to share their perspective on school safety.

With so many school shootings, including one at Marshall County High School only a few weeks after I was there for the Marshall County Hoopfest, I wanted to see how high school students felt about topics like this:

— Having metal detectors at school.

— Teachers being allowed to have guns at school.

— Armed safety/police officers in the school hallways.

Elizabeth Joiner of Danville, Katelyn McWhorter of Lincoln County and Micah Fowler of Boyle County will offer the perspective from a student’s standpoint that I have no idea about.
