Kentucky got the help it needed from Missouri Saturday night to enable the Wildcats to get a double bye in this week’s Southeastern Tournament.
Kentucky failed to land the No. 3 seed when it lost 80-67 at Florida. But a few hours later Missouri beat Arkansas to enable UK to get the No. 4 seed.
Kentucky will now open SEC Tournament play about 3:30 p.m. EST Friday in St. Louis at the Scottrade Center against either the No. 5 (Missouri), 12 (Georgia) or 13 (Vanderbilt) seed. UK split games with Missouri, beat Vanderbilt twice and beat Georgia in the one game the team’s played.
If Kentucky advances, it would play in the semifinal Saturday at 1 p.m. where SEC regular-season champion Auburn could be the opponent. Tennessee (No. 2 seed) and Florida are in the opposite bracket.
The tournament championship game is Sunday at 1 p.m. EST.
Kentucky finished the regular season 21-10 and 10-8 in the SEC.
