David Bouvier believes opportunities are coming his way

Former Lexington Catholic standout David Bouvier came to UK as a walk-on receiver but seems to be working himself into the playing rotation with what he did this spring.

Here’s part of what he had to say after Friday’s Blue-White Game.

On what the process of sliding up the depth chart from being walk-on has been like …
“It’s been tough. Not going to lie, starting out as a walk-on is always hard. You got to be perfect in practice. You got to earn everything you’ve got, but I’m glad I stuck with it. It’s had its challenges, but when you’ve got great quarterbacks and great coaches, it makes it easy.”

On what’s been the biggest challenge he’s faced …
“Being on scout team. You come from being ‘the guy’ at your school to now being the walk-on and having to work your way all the way up the depth chart. But it pays in the end to stay with it, do your best, work hard and come to work every day.”

On if he thinks he’s earned a role within the offense …
“I think so. I’ve worked my way. I’ve been here it seems like forever. People are going to start looking in on Lynn (Bowden) and Josh (Ali), all those guys, so there will be opportunities for me to catch the ball and do what I can do.”

  1. Following the path taken by Charles Walker. I hope Bouvier tears it up in 2018.
