Kentucky loses running back Aidan Robbins to Louisville

Aidan Robbins

By LARRY VAUGHT

Louisville scored a major in-state recruiting victory Wednesday when Manual running back/linebacker Aidan Robbins gave his verbal commitment to Louisville over Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt and others.

Robins is a three-star running back but UK recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow had made him Kentucky’s top running back target in recent weeks.

The 6-1, 225-pound Robbins is a punishing runner who was scheduled to make an official visit to Kentucky in June. He had just returned from an official visit to Missouri.
Rivals.com recruiting analyst Justin Rowland said UK and Louisville are going head to head for five or six players in the city of Louisville.
“Normally Kentucky has an edge when the top talent is outside Louisville but not always in the city. That is why they have Vince working Louisville now,” Rowland said before Robbins commitment.
“What both Kentucky and Louisville are hoping for is to get one or two of these guys and then get the rest because they are tied in together. Robbins is really good and could have been a replacement for Benny Snell and Sihiem King.”
Kentucky did get a verbal commitment from Shawnkel Knight-Goff of Louisville Doss but less than two weeks after doing so he re-opened his recruitment.

  1. Too bad. UK seems to be losing instate recruiting battles, especially athletes out of Louisville. Petrino’s record and style is the biggest reason for that IMO. This was a talented RB.

  2. Not only is Petrino’s style more appealing, but UK waited a very long time to make an offer to this kid. According to what I heard on the radio this morning, UK did not offer until Marrow was put in as the lead recruiter. I think Stoops needs to take a look at who is doing his recruiting and making offers. No need to wait so long on a kid like this.

  3. Just go get a 4 star from Georgia!!!! GO CATS!!!
