No scholarship offer, but Dontaie Allen definitely on UK’s recruiting radar

Dontaie Allen

By LARRY VAUGHT

No scholarship offer came to Pendleton County senior Dontaie Allen after his unofficial visit to Kentucky Sunday, but UK certainly let him know he was on the Cats’ recruiting radar.
The 6-6 Allen did not get to see Kentucky coach John Calipari — he was out of town at the Belmont Stakes over the weekend. However, Allen and his family got a tour of the campus and facilities, including Rupp Arena, from UK assistant coach Joel Justus and learned that UK planned to evaluate him during the July evaluation period.
Pendleton coach Keaton Belcher held Pendleton out of action during a team camp at Western Kentucky University last week because of a hip injury and will not use him the next two weeks before the mandate KHSAA dead period so Allen will be 100 percent when AAU play resumes  July 11.
“We are going to let him heal for that live recruiting period,” Belcher said.
Allen will take an unofficial visit to West Virginia Saturday and go to Virginia Tech the following weekend.
