Tyrese Maxey has solid game in blowout win over Panama

Kentucky commit Tyrese Maxey scored 12 points in 18 minutes as the USA under 18 national team toured Panama 118-26 in the FIBA Americas under 18 Championship in St Catherines, Canada, Monday.

Maxey was 5-for-10 overall from the field, including 2-for-7 from 3-point range. He also had three assists, three steals, two rebounds and one block. He did not have a turnover.

The United States opened an incredible 45-0 lead before Panama scored with 8 minutes left in the second quarter. By halftime, USA led 70-8 and it was 99-17 after three quarters.

Armanda Bacot scored 17 points to lead the winners. Trayce Davis and Ayo Dosunmu both had 12 and Cole Anthony, a UK recruiting targer, added 10.

Quentin Grimes, who will play for Kansas next season, had nine points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals.

The USA will play Puerto Rico Tuesday at 6 p.m. EST. Both teams are 2-0 in pool play. Puerto Rico beat Panama 84-51 in the first round
