Frank Ramsey always had a smile for you

Vaught’s note: Former UK basketball All-American Frank Ramsey, one of the most underrated players ever to play at Kentucky, recently passed away. Vaughtsviews.com reader Michelle Morton knew a lot more about Ramsey than me and offered these great memories. Enjoy.

I was born in Madisonville, Ky. where I went to elementary and middle school. That’s where I became friends with Frank Ramsey’s daughter, Cynthia. I would go to her house to play, and sometimes do homework.

I can remember him being a kind and laid back man. He always had a smile for you. A great man, and a great family.

My brother was friends with her brother, Cliff, who today just happens to live two doors from my brother in-law, in Henderson …. where I moved to after moving from Madisonville. That’s where I met my husband.

On July 13th we celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary, and that also would have also been Frank Ramsey’s birthday. He would have been 87.

So, as we celebrated our anniversary, I gave a toast to the legend Frank Ramsey. #RIPMrFrank
