He might not officially have a Kentucky scholarship offer, but it certainly seems like five-star center Oscar Tshiebwe is becoming a major recruiting target for coach John Calipari.
He cut his college list to four — Kentucky, West Virginia, Baylor and Illinois — and has an official visit set to Kentucky Sept. 28. Remember Pendleton County senior Dontaie Allen did not have a scholarship offer when he made his official visit to Kentucky. Not only did he get an offer on his visit, but he also verbally committed then to join Tyrese Maxey and Kahlil Whitney in UK’s 2019 recruiting class.
The 6-9, 230-pound Tshiebwe had been considered a likely addition for West Virginia until Kentucky started getting more and more involved recently. Tshiebwe also has a SEC offer from Mississippi along with 10 other offers.
Tshiebwe got a major boost with Calipari when he outplayed James Wiseman, the top-ranked player in the 2019 rankings by several recruiting analysts, in the Adidas Summer Championships in California.
