Kentucky freshman Keldon Johnson has been looking forward to Kentucky’s four exhibition games in the Bahamas not just because it will be his UK debut but also because he’s never been out of the country.
“I think it’s definitely a blessing. I just want to thank Kentucky for that, Kentucky basketball, (University of) Kentucky for doing that for us. I think it’s going to be an amazing time,” Johnson said before the Cats left for the Bahamas.
Johnson played at Oak Hill Academy last year. He also played in all the elite postseason all-star games. That’s one reason he says the media attention at UK has not been overwhelming for him like it sometimes is for new players.
“I definitely think I expected it. It pretty much comes with Kentucky basketball,” Johnson said. “I think that I am prepared to handle it well.
“Knowing that I have people behind me that are supporting me, I mean its not really hard coming up here and speaking my mind because I know I have people supporting me from the back.”
