HARRODSBURG — For any long-time high school football fan in central Kentucky, the Yeast brothers are well-known names for what they did for Harrodsburg High School from 1971-1978.
Brothers Bo, Robbie, George, Steve and Nick ran for 7,844 yards and scored 592 points in that time according to former Harrodsburg assistant coach Genie Sims. There was even one year where all five brothers were on the team together when Nick was an eighth-grader and Bo was a senior.
Robbie Yeast passed away April 11 and before Mercer County played John Hardin in the Little Caesar’s Fort Harrod Classic Saturday night, the Yeasts were honored thanks to Jenny and Dan Yates sponsoring the game ball in honor of Robbie Yeast.
Bo, George and Steve were all at the game along with sisters Cathy Wheat and Bobbi Jo Bean (Craig Yeast’s mother), and nephew Larry Yeast representing Nick Yeast who was on vacation in Chicago.
Here are some photos from the pregame ceremony.
