Two weeks before Kentucky opens the season against Central Michigan, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says that senior linebacker Jordan Jones sill has “nagging” injuries that are limiting what he can do in practice.
He missed most of the spring to have shoulder surgery and missed four games last season. However, Jones was still fifth on the team with 64 tackles and led UK in tackles in 2016.
“It’s aggravating him and all of us,” Stoops said. “He’s got a couple things going on that happened through the summer. They’re just nagging him.”
With Jones limited, true freshman linebacker Chris Oates has got added practice reps but Stoops said after Saturday’s scrimmage that UK was “thin” overall at linebacker without revealing other specific injury issues other than redshirt freshman Jordan Wright missed Saturday’s scrimmage..
The good news is that Stoops said none of the injuries should be anything to keep players out of the opening game.
