Kentucky’s 27-16 win at Florida ended a 31-year losing streak to Florida — and gave Kentucky its first win in Gainesville since 1979 — set off a Twitter storm from all sorts of UK fans.
It would be impossible to share them all with you, but I picked out a few of my favorites.
Former Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles — “I’m crying in a bar in Baton Rouge. I love my Wildcats more than anything. So proud to have worn that jersey! #BBN #WeDidIt”
Kentucky guard Logan Stenberg — “Sleep easy tonight, Kentucky.
Kentucky linebacker Kash Daniel — “For the BBN, and most importantly for the STATE OF KENTUCKY… THIS IS FOR YOU!”
Former Kentucky coach Bill Curry — “Congratulations UK Football! So happy for team, staff, and fans. Especially moved by Game Ball for the great John Schlarman. John is one of the best players ever at UK, and one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known. God bless Coach Schlarman and all who support him right now.”
Former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones — “Congrats to the Kentucky Wildcat football team. It’s been 32 yrs and u deserve it. U have been the FAR SUPERIOR team to Florida for the past 2 YEARS. Never thought I would hear my UK cheerleader wife gloat during the fall, in my lifetime. My how times have changed in G’ville!”
Former UK coach Rich Brooks — “Congrats to coach Stoops and the team for a fantastic win on the road. Great defense and running game. Finally the streak is over. Way to go BBN!!!”
Former UK tight end Jacob Tamme — “In 2007 we accomplished a dream of mine to bring College Gameday to Lexington. The game was Florida. The atmosphere was electric. We fought hard but we didn’t get it done. 45-37. Tonight is special, it really is. #BBN”
