Sarasota, FL – Nico 11 Publishing & Design is proud to announce the publication of the new book by,
legendary ESPN College Basketball Analyst, Dick Vitale: “Dick Vitale’s Mount Rushmores of College
Basketball-Solid Gold Prime Time Performers From My Four Decades at ESPN.”
The book is co-written with Hall of Fame sports writer Dick Weiss and stats guru Howie Schwab, with the foreword by Hall of Fame, award-winning sports writer Bob Ryan.
The book presents a variety of categories, such as, Vitale’s top four players, coaches, announcers, and referees that he has covered during his career at ESPN, since 1979. Release of the book is scheduled for late October, 2018 to coincide with the start Vitale’s 40th year at ESPN.
“Let the debates begin. I know you can make a case for different people in several categories. That’s the fun part, like being at a sports bar and debating who you liked more,” Vitale said. “I could have gone with a number of people for coaching and playing honors. At the end, I made some tough decisions.
“I do want to be very clear that all of my Mount Rushmore players and coaches are only from my era at ESPN, which began on December 5, 1979, when I worked the very first major college basketball game on ESPN. That is the only reason I did not include greats like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and the legendary John Wooden. They were just before my time at ESPN. I have the utmost respect and admiration for those guys!
All sales proceeds will be donated to The V Foundation for Cancer Research; an organization near and dear to Vitale’s heart.
The painting for the cover of the Mount Rushmores of Coaching Royalty is an original work by Nico 11 Publishing & Design staff artist Philip D’Amore, a native of Brookfield, WI, now residing in Glendale, CA.
