Words like these are not what you ever expect to hear in Rupp Arena.

“The SEC East runs through Lexington, Kentucky,” said SEC Nation’s Marcus Spears.

No, he was talking about basketball during the first half of Kentucky’s exhibition game with IUP. Instead, he was talking about the SEC East championship game between Kentucky and Georgia at Kroger Field Saturday.

“I think that deserves a standing ovation,” Spears told UK fans at Rupp Arena. “I think everyone should stand up for this football team.”

SEC Nation host Laura Rutledge was also at Rupp Arena promoting Saturday’s show from 10-noon at the William T. Young Library on the UK campus.

“We will have giveaways and a lot of talk about this Kentucky Wildcats team,” Rutledge said. “We are going to have the biggest crowd ever (at the show). Let’s show them what Big Blue Nation is all about.”

I think coach Mark Stoops is hoping that goes on during the game as well.
