I think this was at least my fourth visit to Disney World in Orlando — along with one visit to Disney World in California.
I like it, but as I’ve grown older the desire to come back as not really appealed to me. However, my wife has always wanted to come to Disney for Christmas, so this year we got tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom.
You cannot get into the park until 4 p.m. and it takes a special ticket. But I’ve got to admit, what a night it was. Sure, I liked getting the free goodies — snowman pretzel, cookies, snow cones, hot chocolate, candy and more — that are part of the admission price.
The rides are still fun and I still love It’s A Small World — and probably will my whole life.
But just being at the Magic Kingdom for the parade was fantastic. The performers had as much fun as the crowd and watching the performers interact with kids — and adults — was really fun. Then the fireworks display was FANTASTIC. Much better than any July 4th display I’ve seen. I loved the way the lights on the castle changed with the fireworks, too.
If that wasn’t enough, then it snowed on Main Street as we left to make the night even more magical.
