Immediately after Louisville Ballard four-star linebacker Jared Casey announced on Twitter that he was not committed to Kentucky, Vince Marrow — UK’s football recruiting coordinator — took to Twitter himself.
“Love guys that want to stay home and represent the BBN. BOOM,” Marrow posted on Twitter.
Without saying so, he was letting everyone know how happy he was to have Casey, especially since Western Hills standout Wandale Robinson had flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Nebraska just over 24 hours earlier.
Casey has the size and speed to play either inside or outside linebacker at UK. The Cats lose starters Josh Allen, the national defensive player of the year, and Jordan Jones to graduation this year. Casey is considered a top 300 player nationally and top 15 outside linebacker.
Casey had 70 tackles in 11 games this season. The 6-3, 230-pound Casey had scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Syracuse, Purdue, Louisville and more.
Casey continues UK’s impressive recruiting showing in Louisville. Last week defensive end J.J. Weaver of Moore committed to UK. Receiver Demontae Crumes and defensive end Shawkel Knight-Goff had earlier committed to UK.
