If you are looking for a nice Valentine’s Day getaway — or a longer winter mini-vacation — then let me make a suggestion: Margaritaville in Pigeon Forge.
There’s a friendly staff waiting for you at either the Margaritaville Island Hotel or the Margaritaville Island Inn. Then there is always the relatively new Margaritaville Resort in Gatlinburg.
We love the Pigeon Forge area in the winter. The crowds are nothing compared to the spring, summer and fall months but there are still great places to eat and shop. Not to mention a number of entertainment options.
The St. Somewhere Spa at the Island Hotel is terrific and has a “couples” special that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day or any other day based on the bookings that were being made when I was there. I can also vouch that despite the chilly weather, the rooftop pool at the Island Hotel felt like bath water in January and the hot tub was even better.
You can also get 25 percent off a four-night stay at either the Island Hotel or Island inn using the booking code four before Feb. 4 for stays through March 14. At the Inn you get complimentary breakfast, complimentary bicycle rentals, and both indoor/outdoor pools.
If you go, now is also a perfect time to enjoy some gorgeous scenery in the Smoky Mountains, including a great chance you will see both snow and wildlife. Our last time there, a bear had even wandered into the edge of Gatlinburg and was very content staying put while folks took pictures or just watched what the bear was doing.
