Signee Isaiah Gibson’s mother advises parents to keep notebook on campus visits

Isaiah Gibson

Kentucky football signee Isaiah Gibson, a defensive lineman out of Ohio, visited most of the schools that offered him scholarships before he finalized his decision to join the Wildcats.

His mother, Amy, made sure he had plenty of information to review before he made his final choice.

“I kept a notebook everywhere that we went,” Amy Gibson said. “I kept a list of the pros and the cons everywhere that we went. I would always write it down and wrote down everything.

“I think that helped in the end to narrow down the schools. We took out the notebook and reviewed all the pros and cons. I tried to be as helpful and informative as I could and the notebook really helped.”

That’s why she would advise the parents of other recruits to do the same thing during the recruiting process to help with a final decision.

“Make notes about everything. Coaching staff, facilities, anybody you talk to,” she said. “Kentucky was Isaiah’s fourth official visit and I made a lot of notes there. But obviously I think it was well worth it and made it easier for him to come to his final decision.”

  1. That is a great idea! You tend to remember the good and forget the bad. Take the visits and then some processing time to let things settle. This way you can make an informed decision that is best for you and the school. Hopefully omitting any future regrets. Nothing is perfect, but this seams the most logical why to make an informed decision.

  2. Mom knows best.
