Dates set for 10 Kentucky volleyball camps

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Registration for each of Kentucky’s 10 volleyball camps during the 2019 summer months is now open. Camps range from one-day specialty instruction to overnight camps, team camps and one for the littlest Wildcat fans ready to learn from the team and coaches.

A limited number of spots are available and are based on a first-come, first-served basis, with online registration recommended as the fastest and most efficient form of registering campers.

A detailed breakdown of each camp, the dates and additional information is included below:

DAY CAMPS

Serving Camp – June 8 and June 26

This camp is designed to focus solely on serving the volleyball. This camp will focus on various techniques of serving, along with improving consistency and finding the serve that fits your game best. Players will receive maximum repetitions within the three-hour period. Players will learn and improve through drill work, challenging games and demonstrations from the UK players.

June 8 –1-4 p.m.
June 26 – 4-7 p.m.

The fee for the day serving camps is $75. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12.  Full payment is due at online registration. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

All-Skills Camp – June 9 and 27 

This one-day camp focuses on developing skills in all aspects of the game. Campers will watch a demo on each skill followed by an on-court training segment. The skills will include passing, serving, attacking, digging and setting. Because of the short duration of the camp, the majority of the time will be spent completing drill work. Campers will be divided by age to begin the camp with a possibility of dividing more by ability to conclude the day. 

June 9 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
June 27 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The fee for the day all-skills camps is $130. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12.  Full payment is due at online registration. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

A $70 deposit is due at the time of online registration, with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

Libero Camp – July 6

This camp is solely designed for fundamental skill development of defensive specialists. Campers will focus on passing technique, serving, defense and ball control. Campers will receive maximum repetitions through drill work and competitions. Campers in the libero camp may not participate in the setter camp.

July 6 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The fee for the day libero camp is $130. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12.  A $75 deposit is due at the time of online registration, with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

Setter Camp – July 6

This one-day camp is designed for fundamental skill development at the setting position. Setters will focus on setting technique, footwork, game strategy and ball control. Campers will receive maximum repetitions through drill work and competitions. Campers in the setter camp may not participate in the libero camp.

July 6 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The fee for the day setter camp is $130. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12.  A $75 deposit is due at the time of online registration, with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

Hitter Camp – July 7

This camp is solely designed for fundamental skill development of hitters in all positions. This one-day intense camp will focus on attacking technique, footwork and developing shots. Campers will receive many repetitions at each of the attacking positions. To end the day, they will be divided by skill and placed in groups where they will improve and be challenged.

July 7 – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The fee for the day hitter camp is $130. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12.  A $70 deposit is due at the time of online registration, with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.

OVERNIGHT CAMPS

July All-Skills Camps – July 8-10

This three-day comprehensive camp focuses on challenging each camper to take her game to the next level. Campers will be divided by skill and work with the coaches to enhance their knowledge of the game and improve their skill set. Serving, passing, attacking, defense, blocking, setting, team transition and team competition will be taught throughout the camp.

July 8 – 12 p.m. camp begins
July 10 – 4 p.m. camp ends

The fee for the overnight skills camp is $360 with lodging and meals provided. The commuter fee is $315 with lunch and dinner provided. The camp will be held in Memorial Coliseum, the Joe Craft Center, the Seaton Center and other UK facilities. All individual camps are designed for those entering grades 5-12. Additional information regarding camp logistics provided via email upon registration.  

A $100 deposit is due at the time of online registration, with the remaining balance due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $75 processing fee for cancelations. All UK Athletics camps require that the campers must be at least 12 years old at the start of that camp to stay overnight in any UK facility.

High School Team Camp – July 12-14

This camp’s balance between competition and team training will give each team and coach a great opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. Fundamental skill training and ample amounts of team situations and scrimmages will fill each day. We will provide you with a top coach to train and coach your team. Each school will participate in a tournament on the final day of camp. Team camp is open to high school varsity and junior varsity teams and must be accompanied by a coach.

The team fee for the team camp is $250. The UK camp provides a head coach to train and coach your school. This fee allows one high school coach to accompany the team. The fee includes meals and lodging. The $250 school fee is non-refundable.

Each camper’s fee is $335 with lodging and meals included. An additional coach fee is $150 with lodging and meals included. fee for the overnight team camp is $360 with lodging and meals provided. The commuter fee is $315 with lunch and dinner provided.

JV teams may accompany varsity with a minimum of nine players per team. The school fee must be paid as soon as possible after reservation has been made to officially register a school. High school coaches will need to gather all camper registrations, camper fees and medical forms.

All UK Athletics camps require that the campers must be at least 12 years old at the start of that camp to stay overnight in any UK facility.

Lil’ Wildcats Camp

June 16-18

This three-day camp focuses on introducing the game of volleyball to boys and girls, ages 5-11. It will give campers the opportunity to learn the sport in a fun atmosphere with our collegiate players. Fundamentals will be taught in creative ways, and campers will learn to play volleyball the Kentucky way.

The fee for the Lil’ Wildcats camp is $90. Check-in at Memorial Coliseum will begin at 8 a.m. on July 16. The camp runs from 9-11:30 a.m. each day. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and snacks each day of camp. The full payment of $90 is due on or before the first day of camp. There is a $30 processing fee for cancelations.
