Kentucky adds legacy commit Andru Phillips to 2020 class

Commit Andru Phillips with Kentucky coach Mark Stoops.

By LARRY VAUGHT

One day after landing a commitment from four-star offensive lineman John Young of Louisville Christian Academy, Kentucky got another one from South Carolina cornerback Andru Phillips Monday night.

Phillips is a three-star player and the son of former UK player Carlos Phillips. He’s originally from Louisville before moving to South Carolina.

The cornerback from Mauldin, S.C., was originally slated to make his college choice July 8. However, he was at UK’s Blue-White Game in mid-April and was back for a visit last weekend — along with Young and others. He made his commitment tonight on social media and picked UK over Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina State and others. He was also receiving considerable interest from Clemson.

Phillips is considered one of the top 15 players in South Carolina and is listed among the nation’s top 60 cornerbacks by several recruiting services.

Kentucky also has a commitment from 6-4, 280-pound defensive lineman Lamar Goods of Connecticut in its 2020 recruiting class.
