As a junior, he was a starting linebacker on a Kentucky team that won 10 games. A few weeks later he was part of a Super Bowl commercial promoting Kentucky football.
It was a fun season for linebacker Kash Daniel of Paintsville — and he wants even more in 2019.
“We can’t be complacent and have to put this to rest about last year,” said Daniel. “We can’t hold on to it and live in good memories of what it was like last year. That’s over and done and is not coming back.
“We have videos and memories of last year but I will not be on the field again with those guys that graduated. We have got to have the mindset we have done this but now it is time to take it up another notch.
“Our mentality has not changed with way we prep. We have to attack every drill like it is our last drill and be perfectionists in everything we do. That’s how you get better and do better.”
Daniel came to UK convinced he could help make the program better and be a successful player. He’s been right about both.
“As you get older, you change. Interests change,” Daniel said. “I have grown as a person and student. With all the help at the university from academics to athletics to trainers to strength coaches, you have a lot of resources to build you up to be a better person when you leave here than when you stepped foot on campus and that’s what I plan to do.”
