Savannah Wheeler, Dontaie Allen get Miss, Mr. Basketball rings Friday

LOUISVILLE – Members of the Executive Board of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation will present the commemorative rings to Miss and Mr. Kentucky Basketball, Savannah Wheeler and Dontaie Allen, before the game of each athlete on Friday, June 7th during the Kentucky / Indiana All-Star Games in Knights Hall at Bellarmine University.

Wheeler will be presented her ring at approximately 5:45 PM, prior to the 6 PM Girls All-Star Game and Allen will be presented his ring at approximately 7:45 PM, prior to the 8 PM Boys All-Star Game. 

Savannah and Dontaie were announced as the winner of these awards and received their trophies at the 2019 Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball Awards Ceremony, presented by the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation in March.  The Awards Ceremony annually celebrates the high school careers of the best basketball players throughout the state and is a fundraiser for the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.  The Foundation’s mission is to provide vision services through education, detection, prevention, treatment and empowerment.  Through collaborative partnerships, we enable greater independence and increased quality of life for all Kentuckians while focusing on children and adults in financial need. The Foundation has announced Mr. Kentucky Basketball since 1954 and Miss Kentucky Basketball since 1976.  For more information contact KLEF at 502-583-0564 or go to

  1. Dontaie clearly was the best player up until the time of his injury, but with his injury coming so early in the season, I thought someone else would get the Mr. title. I hope he can be ready to play this year.
