Aaron Boone will “always remember and be grateful” for Jared Lorenzen

Aaron Boone, left, caught 15 touchdown passes from Jared Lorenzen at UK but also remembers the many good times off the field with Lorenzen.

Jared Lorenzen’s legacy just continues to amaze me because even though I thought I knew how many people he had touched with football and his life, I obviously did not.

I have now been on five out-of-state radio shows in the last four days talking about Lorenzen’s life and career. Even a station in Portland, Ore., wanted to talk about Lorenzen.

Listen to any sports talk show in Kentucky and Lorenzen’s death at age 38 last week has dominated the conversation.

I saw this Facebook post from former Kentucky receiver Aaron Boone and got his permission to share it with you.

“I played with a lot of QBs over the years through college and in the pros but Jared Lorenzen was truly one of a kind. He will be missed!” Boone wrote on Facebook.

“His BIG rocket of an arm, with a lefty spin, took some getting used to, but once we connected we rolled and had a great run together at the University of Kentucky! In a span of 16 straight games, we connected for 15 touchdown receptions!”

Think about that. Fifteen touchdowns in 16 games for that combo. Incredible.

Boone closed his post with this:

“We had some great times on and off the field that I will always remember and be grateful for. I know I would not have developed into the WR I became without him. Until we meet again brother, rest easy!”

Rest easy indeed.
