Linnemann Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Center in Erlanger has released funeral arrangements for former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen.
He passed away Wednesday at age 38. His death touched former UK teammates, current UK players, Kentucky fans, media members and others across the nation. I was asked to be on radio shows in Huntsville, Ala.; Portland, Ore.; and Dallas to share memories about Lorenzen.
There will be a celebration of life for Lorenzen Wednesday from 2-6 p.m. at St. Pius X Church (348 Dudley Rd. in Edgewood). A burial service at the church will follow the celebration of life.
There’s a lot to celebrate about Lorenzen’s life — and not just the numerous records he set first at Highlands High School and then UK. He was just a special guy who loved helping others and being a friend to everyone.
Not surprisingly, his family wants donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for Better Health or United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation in Pittsburgh instead of flowers.
