Tyrese Maxey on Dontaie Allen: “He’s really good.”

Kentucky’s freshmen basketball players have now been on campus for about six weeks and having a chance to not only play basketball together but also get to know each other off the court a lot better.

Guard Tyrese Maxey of Texas did  not know Kentucky Mr. Basketball Dontaie Allen of Pendleton County. He had not played with or against him before because Allen did not play on the same AAU circuit that Maxey did during his high school career.

However, it didn’t take long for Allen to impress Maxey the first time he saw him in person.

“He’s good. Just watching videos, I didn’t know who he was because he didn’t play the (high level summer) circuit,” Maxey said.

“But after getting him to see in person (at UK), he’s really good. I can’t wait to play with him.”

Maxey also got to see a side of Allen that not everyone does if they just see him on the court or do not get to know him well.

“When I first met him he was kind of quiet, but now he cracks jokes and everything with us,” Maxey said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun being around him.”

  1. I hope Dontaie gets a chance to play. Word has it that he has a better 3 point shot than Whitney and hopefully is fully recovered from his knee injury.

  2. I’m with you on this one Catman, really want to see this Kentucky kid light em up-Go Cats!
