Five-star Paolo Banchero will visit UK for Big Blue Madness

Kentucky’s quest to land high level bigs in the last couple of recruiting classes has not gone exactly the way coach John Calipari hoped.

That’s why getting 6-10 Paolo Banchero to visit during Big Blue Madness could be rather important for Calipari and the Cats.

The Washington five-star forward will also visit North Carolina, Duke, Tennessee and Gonzaga before mid-January

Banchero will visit North Carolina (Sept. 27-29), Kentucky, Duke (Oct. 1-20), Tennessee (Oct. 25-27) and Gonzaga (January 18-19)between late September and mid-January.

Banchero sees himself as a “stretch four” but insists he could also play small forward. However, he has immense skills as shown when he was named most valuable player at the NBA Top 100 Camp in June.

He could also be a player that will reclassify to the 2020 class.

Another five-star forward, 6-9 Greg Brown of Texas, is a top 10 player in the 2020 class. His final five schools are Kentucky, Memphis, Auburn, North Carolina and Texas.

He has visits set to Texas (Sept. 7), Auburn (Nov. 30) and Memphis (Jan. 4). He has yet to set visits to Kentucky and North Carolina but plans to visit both.

He was one of the top players on the Nike EYBL this summer.

  1. Calipari needs to figure out how to get an elite big or it will be his downfall. We are already getting dissed by Joe Linardi. He moved us to a 2 and moved Florida up to a 1. Captain Rah Rah, you aren’t doing your job! Get on ESPN and straighten Linardi out. Rah, Rah, Rah!!!

  2. We have to get a couple bigs for 2020. Can’t rely on graduate transfers every year. GO CATS!!!

    1. You’re right Gene, and you can’t have 6’6″ kids playing power forward or center either.
