Kentucky assistant coach Steve Clinkscale continues to work his recruiting magic in Michigan with the verbal commit of offensive tackle Deondre Buford of Detroit to Kentucky today.
The 6-4, 273-pound Buford is a four-star prospect who is ranked as the who is ranked among the top players in Michigan this year. 247Sports has him among the nation’s top 25 tackles and seventh highest rated player in Michigan. He’s also ranked in the top 300 nationally.
His offer list included Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State and Miami. In all, he had about 20 offers.
He picked Kentucky over Missouri and Pittsburgh and apparently had given his commitment to UK coaches several months ago before making the decision public today. He took his official visit to Lexington in late April.
Kentucky’s top 25 rated 2020 recruiting class now has 15 commitments — including lineman Justin Rogers and receiver Earnest Sanders of Michigan.
