Big Blue Madness tonight is always the start of a big recruiting weekend for Kentucky coach John Calipari. However, this year the UK coach seems to be making every day a big recruiting event.

On Thursday he went to New York and offered 6-7 junior win A.J. Griffin of Archbishop Stepinaca scholarship just like Duke, UCLA, Michigan, Villanova and others had already done. He’s ranked among the top five players in the 2021 recruiting class.

Calipari had already offered 2021 five-star recruits Jon Kuminga, Paolo Banchero, Jaden Hardy, Moussa Cisse, Devin Askew, Patrick Baldwin and Terrence Clark. Clark has already verbally committed to UK and announced he is reclassifying to the 2020 class and several other players Calipari has offered may also reclassify.

The Kentucky coach and assistant Tony Barbee had seen Griffin before. He played for the USA under 16 national team when it won a gold medal in Brazil last summer. He averaged 13 points per game.
