Will point guard Devin Askew be a Kentucky commit soon?

The more people I talk to, the more I think it could be happening.

Recently Rivals basketball recruiting analyst Corey Evans talked to Askew at a USA Basketball minicamp and Askew told him it “was wild” on his visit to Kentucky and that he liked it “a lot” at UK.

Kentucky’s recruiting pitch to him has been simple.

“The whole coaching staff has really liked and loved me as a player and it is more than a want, but rather, it is a need for a point guard and I like it over there,” Askew told Evans.

He also said he had not talked to UK commits Brandon “B.J.” Boston or Terrence Clarke because he didn’t “want to give anything away.”

In another conversation with 247Sports recruiting director Evan Daniels that he liked watching the UK practices and how hard the coaches pushed the playrs.

“I like to be pushed, I like everything not to be easy because when it’s easy it’s not fun and when it’s hard it makes you want get in there and work harder,” Askew told Daniels.

He said he enjoyed talking with Calipari and “picking his brain” and seeing if his recruitment was more than just a “want” for Kentucky.

“He’s definitely an honest man. I liked it a lot,” Askew told Daniels about Calipari.

Askew told Evans said he’s not sure when he might announce his commitment but said it could be in a few weeks. He also avoided saying if he would reclassify from the 2021 class to the 2020 class but did say Calipari told him whatever class he was in that it would be fine with Kentucky.
