What did the Kentucky basketball team have planned Monday to celebrate coach John Calipari’s birthday?
“I don’t know if I have a god answer for that,” Kentucky assistant coach Joel Justus told media members Monday. ” I wish I did.
“I think we’re going to practice, and then we’re going to head to Nashville (to play Vanderbilt Tuesday night). I think he gets to have dinner with his daughter (Erin) maybe tonight, I’m not sure, but I would imagine that.”
His daughter, Erin, is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt.
“But other than that I’m sure we’ll watch some film of us not playing well against Vanderbilt (earlier this season) and some film of us playing well against Vanderbilt,” Justus said.
Calipari’s other daughter, Megan, had a little fun with her father earlier in the day on Twitter when she wished him the “Happiest 73rd birthday.”
That immediately drew a response from some telling her that her father was not 73, something she obviously knew.
“You guys I know my dad isn’t 73,” she responded on Twitter. ” it was a joke because every time he wishes me happy birthday he gets the day, my age or my name wrong 😂”
Freshman Keion Brooks Jr. joked before MOnday’s practice that he didn’t have Calipari a present.
“I’ll probably give him a big ol’ hug when we see him right before practice. It’s his birthday; hopefully he’s in a great mood, which he should be, and I’m just thankful and appreciative for everything he’s done for me,” Brooks said.
