For the second straight scrimmage, Kentucky has suffered a significant injury that could potentially cost it another player.

A week ago it was left offensive tackle Cole Mosier that went down with a season-ending knee injury.Today it was senior receiver Dorian Baker that suffered what coach Mark Stoops said was a “substantial” ankle injury.

“It’ll probably leak out there, and I don’t want everyone poking around or anything, but we did get an injury today that was fairly substantial. I’ll give you the details later when I know, so please respect the kid and his family and everything, but Dorian Baker did get hurt today,” Stoops said.

There is no “I” in TEAM. I have heard that phrase repeated in sports all my life. Saturday’s huge win against Missouri on the road proved that again.

It was a complete team effort. The offensive line dominated the D-Line from Missouri. The running back tandem of  Boom Williams and Benny Snell, Jr. was phenomenal with almost 400 yards rushing between the two.

Dorian Baker had 55 catches for 608 yards and three touchdowns last season but was haunted by several key drops.

He was determined to correct that issue this season and had been impressing offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and receivers coach Lamar Thomas before he pulled a hamstring two weeks into preseason practice.

He missed UK’s second scrimmage and has been limited in practice. He stayed late Tuesday catching extra balls from UK’s JUGS machine.

Freshmen Kash Daniel, a linebacker, and T.J. Carter, a defensive lineman, apparently will both play this season.

“I think T.J. Carter is a guy that will play, that we’ll need to bring along and play. Kash, I think is a guy that we have to look at defensively,” Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said after Monday’s practice.

He did not mention any freshmen offensive players even though offensive coordinator Eddie Gran has indicated running back Benny Snell and tackle Landon Young have both impressed him.

Ask most Kentucky football fans what they remember about receiver Dorian Baker and it likely will be passes he dropped last season, not the team-high 55 catches for 608 yards and three scores.

Offensive coordinator Eddie Gran is not worried about any of that. He was not at UK last season on in 2014 when Baker had 19 catches for 199 yards and one touchdown.

So how is he doing this month?
